- **Notes:**
- **Constatius:** He is the shape that fear gave a face to. When he first stepped out of [[Constantine]]’s shadow, he looked identical to him, but everything else was wrong. He stood straighter, breathed evenly, and spoke without the stutter or panic that clings to Constantine like a second skin. The voice was steady, the words sharp, and the way he watched the room felt deliberate, as if he were cataloging every flaw in the world around him. He never explained how he came to be, and he never pretended he owed us anything. He simply existed, fully formed, like a truth Constantine had been too afraid to say out loud. I have seen echoes of men before. I have seen undead mimics, cursed reflections, fiends wearing familiar faces, and illusions cast by gods who enjoy cruelty more than honesty... Constatius is none of those. He is not an enemy, not a companion, and not a trick. He feels like the part of Constantine that survived every hardship by stepping back and letting fear take the blows, a version of him stripped of hesitation. When he speaks, there is clarity. When he listens, he understands more than he should. There is an oldness in him that does not belong to someone Constantine’s age. What unsettles me most is that Constatius never looks at Constantine the way a reflection should. He does not mirror him. He studies him. As if he knows the direction that Constantine is heading before the man himself does. As if he has been waiting for this moment for years.
- Constatius is not following Constantine. He is guiding him. And whatever path that shadow intends to lead him down has not revealed itself yet.
