She was shaped by [[House Valebright]] long before I ever met her, trained from childhood to guard [[Princess Anya Valebright]], and it shows in every strike she lands and every time she gets back up when someone stronger tries to put her down. She doesn't talk much about her past, and she doesn’t need to. The jar of sand she keeps from her training grounds says more than any story she could have told. In battle she moves like someone who has lived most of her life preparing for moments exactly like these. I have pulled her back from the edge with what power I have that remains more times than I can count, and she has done the same for me, both of us fighting the way paladins are meant to fight: side by side, without hesitation. Her power flickers with something unfamiliar at times. I pretend not to notice until she is ready to speak on it, if she ever is. When we are not fighting, she puts that same discipline into quiet acts that catch people off guard. She helped [[Kalis Mikhailson]] repair the [[Chauntea]] temple in [[Greenest]], bought [[Drougma Tarak]] a component bag when he could not afford one, and knocked [[Constantine]] flat in a duel he probably should not have insisted on starting in the first place. The children in Greenest adore her. One young tiefling girl in particular follows her like a shadow, and Marcel lets her. That alone tells me more about the woman than any oath she has sworn. She never explains why she is separated from Princess Anya. She shields that truth the same way she shields the rest of us, steady and unflinching. Whatever her reasons are, I have learned not to press. Marcel stands where she is needed, raises her blade when the fight comes, and does not let those beside her fall.
